ABOUT US...

The Unity Support Riders were originally trained by the Metropolitan Police BikeSafe team to assist in the running of motorcycle charity events within London.

Since their conception in 2005 the Unity Support Riders (USR’s) have assisted in hundreds of motorcycle, cycle and other on-road events in London and across the South, helping to raise both funding and the profile of charitable organisations.

Our primary role is to advise on how to undertake large on-road events in a safe and lawful manner, help negotiate with the local authorities and when needed provide trained road marshals and mobile first-aiders.

In 2010 the USR scheme was nominated for the Prince Michael International Road Safety award for their contribution to group riding safety.

To be a USR it is necessary that the rider holds an advanced rider qualification (RoSPA, ERS or IAM), be trained in First Aid (FBOS - First Bike on Scene) and also undertake our annual assessment and specialised training days. New members join as associates and undertake all the required training before becoming full USRs.

If you are planning an event and would like our assistance, or are  interested in becoming a USR, please contact us.

All USRs are volunteers and give their time freely to the events and charities we support.

However, we do have costs that help us support events - on average, it costs £200 to train and equip each new USR. As well as initial training, any donations will help towards ongoing training of existing USRs, updating communication equipment, navigation aids and replacement ppe/clothing, etc.

If you are able to support us, we are always grateful for any donations.
