Insurance Renewal Time (again)

Morning guys......its that time again......any suggestions or recommendations for bike insurance companies who are 'sympathetic' to the marshalling cause.  Many thanks.   Baz

IAM surety are fairly good, I told them I do voluntary non paid work and they were happy with that, they put on business use with out extra cost.

Point of note, if you have additional strobe lights on your bike, make sure you have Business use on your insurance if you don't want a lot of bother.

MCE = covers this as part of their standard clause.
But you still feel held to ransom ..

The trick is to go through the first operator and answer all the questions truthfully.
Then just before the "how do you wish to pay"can I have your Credit Card bit, butt in and say, "Can you help me with one other factor, you might have to put me on to the Underwriter"


Then explain that you ride for a Charity known as UNITY Support Riders Charity Number ..... and you occasionally provide unpaid support at the Lee Rigby and Royal British Legion Ride of Respect as First Aid and Safety support.


Do not mention repeat Do not Cycle Races, Motorcycle Races, Time Trial etc.


At this point the operator will put you on hold and will consult a "supervisor" as they do not want to get involved with the Underwriter for length of time to call commission issues.


They will then come back with my supervisor has said we can cover this Free of charge or for a £15/£20 Admin Fee we will include Business on your policy.


It work every time whether insuring my Car or Bike.


Failure to do it in the above order will result in the 12year old script reader missing your extras and hence it will leave your either with no insurance or having to pay a £60 Admin fee to get it changed and the cost of the extra for Business Cover.

Further to my earier posting...I have discovered a firm of insurance brokers who have been able to provide a suitable policy which 1. is reasonably priced and 2. covers me for marshalling duties.  The company is Advance Insurance and the contact is Gareth        gareth.williams@advanceinsurance.co.uk       He dealt with the complexities of event marshalling and was able to negotiate with the underwriters to obtain an acceptable policy and was most sympathetic to our needs.   Anyone seeking insurance who contact him should mention my name to receive a favourable discount.....Highly recommended.
