Mr Rizla

Hi,
Recently a lot of people have been contacting me asking about Autocom and rumours of them going bust, obviously given the cost of the audio equipment they didn't want to spend money then find out its impossible to get accessories etc..

Well, the news is yes they did go bust late last year but were quickly bought up by the company that makes and sells Starcom, so they now have a monopoly on bike comms, hopefully that will result in prices coming down and maybe some feature rich enhancements in the commin year etc.

If your still interested in Autocom i recommend basing your setup on the Pro300 hardware and if you call Sam@Chainspeed letting him know your a USR he will do you the best deal possible, give him a buzz on  44 (0)1994 484428.

Am still buzzing from our ride at Wootton Bassett where we had the best result yet in terms of comms working for us, and look forward to improving performance even better in the comming months.

Cheers
Ken

ps we don't get any commission on recomending Chainspeed in case you wonder, i simply recommend the best options for you guys

Monopolies result in prices rising, quality falling, and lack of product improvement I am afraid.

Mr Rizla

Well, from what i was told of the future developments am looking forward.. having said that i have now bought a Scala Q2 headset bluetooth gizmo and am developing an interface board that will allow connection to my Autocom giving loads of options :D

The problem is that without effective competition there is  no pressure on companies to invest in product development and keep costs and prices down.  There may be some short term technology exchanges which might generate new products, but other than that monopolies are bad for the consumer, and arguably bad for the long-term interests of the company as product ranges are allowed to stagnate.

Mr Rizla

Yup, agree but lets hope they prove us wrong, thats why im looking at bluetooth solutions :D hope to have a prototype up and running for Westie to take to France in May :d now back to my datasheets
