Just seen this on another forum - good news for those who commute by bike!  :)

"Motorcyclists will be given the permanent right to use bus lanes in the capital after a trial run showed it reduced congestion and improved safety, transport chiefs said today.
Mayor Boris Johnson ordered the 18-month trial of the scheme - the second to be done - last year. Cyclists have warned the measure is dangerous and risks lives.
But Ben Plowden, director of better routes and places at Transport for London, said: "The two trials have shown reduced journey times and environmental benefits with no significant safety issues for motorcyclists and other vulnerable road users.
"Additional enforcement measures also helped reduce average speeds for riders in bus lanes, delivering benefits for all road users."
Steve Kenward, chief executive of the Motorcycle Industry Association, said: "Like cyclists, motorcycle users face vulnerabilities bus lane use helps to mitigate. We support TfL's recognition of motorcycling as part of the strategy to smooth traffic flow and cut CO2." "

Great news. Did you know that we, together with the met police drafted the code of conduct for motorcycle riding in bus lanes?

The safety figures are not as good as we would have liked but as the bikers and other road users get used to motorcyclists being there I'm sure hings will get even better.
