A note on TyreWeld

Bloody useful for getting you home!  Not in my case as I was already home, and the tireweld just blew straight out of the hole!

BUT! It's a double edged sword... It can make your tyre impossible to get a proper puncture repair done, as it stops the patch from being able to bond.

Apparently, water based ones are better, as it can be washed out of the tyre prior to repair. Haven't looked it up yet, but I was advised by a tyre guy that M&P do a water based tyre sealant.

So tool up with the right sealant, else you're going to have to replace that tyre!

Also when you find out the details of that tyre insurance from your beardy BMW rider let us know, unless it was a wind-up.

Trout@TLB

No wind up. He works for BMW Hertford.
Will find out more, but the general gist is up to 3 claims maximum per term, each claim up to a value of £200.

Need to find out more though

What did Neil Stocker use on Sundays practice drop off ride ?

Anything that gets you going quick and home works for me.  Personally any roadside repair made by me would result in a replacement tyre and the very soonest opportunity.

Neil said he used a repair kit from M and P which involved the use of an Allen Key.

There is a water based tyre weld, but that's a tad academic if it just squirts out the hole - have seen this happen before. The AA sold me a water based Slime for punctures the last time I had a problem, it worked far better than my attempt at plugging the hole with something similar to what the RAC have used.

I currently have a Stop and Go kit, which is available at M&P, http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=554658. I elected to get mine from the US and has the mini compressor instead of the canisters.
This repair system uses an allen key, possibly the one seen at the weekend?

The kit that Graeme described is the one I used. The longest part of the job was pumping the tyre up. I have used it several times in the past and found it far better than glued plugs. I always carry a small electric pump as co2 canisters don't inflate a rear tyre enough.
