We have been asked to assist this ride which is on Facebook, by the organiser Debbie Tunstill
The motorcycle charity ride I am organising in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund. Due to the high concentration of barracks in the south east it is close to many peoples hearts.  The event started with the hope of getting around 100 bikers to ride from Rykas Cafe, Boxhill, Surrey along A roads through Maidstone on to Dover. The two main reasons for doing the ride, first of all raise the profile of the ABF the soldiers charity with the public. The second reason is to escort an ex-commando to Dover as he is riding from London to Iraq and back on his bike on his own all for the ABF.
The response has been incredible as it looks like if it is a good day we could get up to 500 bikers joining us. Nothing in comparison to Wootton Basset but 500 riders on the south east roads will make a huge impact on the traffic and a great spectacle. The ride will be made up of all types of motorcycles from replica race bikes to huge Harley's.
We are looking for any help marshalling the ride.

The ride will be using ONLY A roads that means it will be going through Dorking town centre, Maidstone, Sittingbourne and then down to Dover. Riders are arriving at Boxhill around 11am to leave at 12noon. We have the support of the Surrey and Kent Police who will be only escorting us for safety.
The ride will take the A24 to Dorking then taking A25 all the way through Godstone to the Oakdene Cafe, Wrotham Kent which  will be a 10min stop to pick up riders at 1pm.
Then on A20 to Maidstone town center out on to A252, A28 towards Canterbury then onto A2 to Dover. There will be a break to get more donations and riders at Kent Motorcycles Cafe at 2-2.30pm, back on to the A2 all the way to Dover to finish around 4-4.30 at the Duke of York Pub just outside Dover.
Any riders that help us out for the whole ride will be rewarded with lunch and a big pat on the back. In return if you cover event with riders in a relay situation, I will give you a half page ad in our magazine that goes out to 7,000 riders around the south east which is worth £225.
If you are able to help, we will need at least 20 USR's, please let me know, e-mail on it's way to you individually. Many thanks in Anticipation

Jeffrey

Unfortunately the White Helmets will not be helping to escort this ride as they are performing in Liverpool that weekend.

Strangely the event does not appear on the ABF web site.  http://www.soldierscharity.org/

Looking forward to meeting you all again.

I hope John T's 125cc rider does not come to Box Hill for this ride - it would take a very long time to get to Dover.  ;D

I definitely plan to be on this one starting at Box.

Having looked at the proposed route (which seems confused as Sittingbourne doesn't appear to be on the route described). 85 miles. This could be a long day!

Arrived back home shortly before 19:00, what a windy ride back on the A20/M20!  200 miles on the nail door-to-door, but a good fun day, despite the rain and cold.

I stayed at the pub for a coffee and a bit of a natter, then stopped off at Maidstone services for another coffee. ;)
