Julia Stevenson.

The Royal British Legion are now the organizers and owners of 'The Ride of Respect', which I first organized in 2010.
It has got too big for Anne Cole and myself to organize on our own due to  the overwhelming response, a...nd support from 'YOU', The Bikers.
Anne and I, are hoping, that in future years, the ride will grow so much, and that you continue to support this ride in your thousands, and that we may be able to have a National day of  "Saluting our Heroes" and for the the Nation to wear the relevant lapel badge to wear, just like we wear our poppy's with with the same amount  of pride, flags and patches, will also be available.
The Bikers who have supported us can be extremely proud of themselves 'IF' it comes off.
Anne and I are working on this, as you, the riders and pillions, are the ones that have helped make this happen.
We can tell you, the ride will be on 'Fathers Day' June 16th. June 2013 as it will be much warmer then, and we hope that more bikers will support us.
Anne and myself are still very much involved with the organization of the 'Ride Of Respect'.
We have already been involved in meetings with The Royal British Legion, and The The Ministry Of Defence representatives for next year's ride, but as you know, it takes time to get everything right.
So please put the date, 'SUNDAY 16th. JUNE 2013' in your diary.
We will keep you posted as soon as we can let you know what's happening, please keep up the support for this ride, as the money that it will generate, will make a huge difference to 'Our Heroes'.
Let 'The Thunder of Respect, Honour and Pride' continue to roll.
Thank you.

Just a small point.... the Bikers who have taken part in past Wootton Bassett Rides should be justifiably proud of the huge sums they helped to raise regardless of whether the next one "comes off".

Incidentally, if you read this Stem, could you tell me if the girls are my first point of contact, as I've had no direct contact from anyone at RBL?
As it happens, I've already done several recces, looking for suitable routes, but there are several problems with pinch-points, and crossing major roads, whichever way one heads to Brize Norton. It's a case of "if you want to go there, you don't want to start from here!"
A bit depends on which gate we're allowed to use to enter and exit RAF Abingdon (Dalton Barracks), assuming that it's still the proposed start point. We'll need a lot of co-operation from the local constabulary/county council ... or none at all if we just mark junctions, and let the 10000 hoped-for participants do their own thing. If the groups of 500 WB format is wanted by the organisers, we'll upset a lot of road users, but it is possible.

I hope to have a chat with you Steve about the above, maybe at the Tadworth Toy Run.
Kind regards, John T (Top Cat).

The USR Team - the impossible we do at once! We need a fortnight's notice for miracles!

I have seen elsewhere that this had been changed from Father's Day to Mother's Day - is this correct please?  If it is then I am afraid I am booked to do traing for work that day so can't assist.

Still shown as Sunday 16 June 2013 on the RBL web site.

It is unlikely the date will be brought forward due to the organisation issues involved.

If you would like more information about the Ride of Respect, please email Graham Akins or call on 020 3207 2270.
